Long live Roadkill! So where did it all go wrong?
The internet is awash with news that the mega-popular, ground-breaking show Roadkill has been canned after 13 incredible seasons. On the show, David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan represented their brand of grassroots automotive shenanigans but, like any successful outlet, there was a lot more going on behind the scenes. I'll start by saying, a huge congratulations to everyone who worked on Motor Trend shows. They were super well-produced with great storylines and beautiful visuals, and were presented by genuinely brilliant car enthusiasts who built epic cars and undertook amazing adventures. To last over a decade in such a highly competitive arena is a testament to what a...
How to make a car enthusiast happy this Christmas
As car enthusiasts we've probably all been stuck with explaining to our loved ones that we want automotive-related presents. While we're grateful to have people who want to buy us stuff, most of us have a heck of a time showing our non-automotive family and friends what we want at Christmas. We hear you, we go through it as well, so this time you can just send them this link. TURBOS & TEMPLES BOOK Our feature film Turbos & Temples 3 (CLICK HERE) was an epic adventure back to Japan for Marty to pick up one of his dream cars: an FD3S...
The wrong oil pan will wreck your engine. Here's how to avoid catastrophe
If you've seen the latest episode (CLICK HERE) MOOG and his best mate Al (and some hanger-on bloke called Marty) have started ripping into the Fairlady refresh, and the first big job they knocked over was to change the sump. We all know oil is the lifeblood of your engine (and if you don't, READ THIS) so it makes sense that you need to firstly keep a constant supply to your engine, and secondly hold all that precious liquid gold where it needs to be held. The sump on MOOG's 240 was made by Al and the lads five years ago and...
Chronic rust isn't a death sentence for your car
Rust is the one thing every car enthusiast hates dealing with. While it nearly always means you'll be going through the tedious process of painting and re-fitting a car, structural rust has the potential to kill a car outright. If the actual structure to your car is compromised you really need to fix it for the safety of everyone in and around it. Similarly, catastrophic body rust needs to be fixed so your car doesn't fold up like a cheap deckchair if the worst was to happen. While it isn't a simple job, you can save your beloved nugget with...
All-Wheel-Drive vs 4x4
You may have seen Marty and MOOG's new project (CLICK HERE) and have questions about what the difference between all-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive is. Funnily enough, "what the diff" actually gives you a huge hint to the answer. There are quite a few different all-wheel-drive systems out there from various manufacturers, including Volkswagen's HALDEX and SYNCRO, Nissan's ATTESSA E-TS used in the BNR-generation Skyline GT-Rs, plus countless others. Many of them use the same basic engineering princlples that have been used since Jensen slapped the Ferguson-Formula AWD system in their Interceptor FF model to create AWD passenger cars. Subaru's "symmetrical AWD" system...
